There have been recent headlines about a British 33 year old research scientist, Laura Fernee, PhD, who claims that she was forced to quit her job due to harassment she received because of her good looks. She indicates that she’s been unable to find new work and is forced to live with her parents. The case has attracted many naysayers and supporters alike. As a result, I had the great honor to be asked to participate as an opinion expert with a group of other women on a recent HuffPost Live TV segment called “Too Pretty to Work?”

Please take a look at the 20-minute video and let me know what your own experiences have been.

My goal is for us to understand that harassment still exists and instead of attacking Laura (yes, I know we might perceive her as full of herself), let’s focus on how we can help improve work situations for both women and men. We also need to encourage women to get more comfortable in their own skin as I discuss during my points. This is how we can then positively influence support from others and reduce the number of cases that occur.
